SMS gateway without A2P 10DLC registration
VoidFix Gateway is an SMS gateway without A2P registration: your texts go out from SIM cards in your own Android phones, so there is no 10DLC brand or campaign to register before you start. Carrier rules, consent and opt-out still apply. This page explains how it works, what still applies, and who it suits.
- Live in under 5 minutes
- No per-message fees
- Warmup, Spintax and Number Pool built in
The short answer. A2P 10DLC registration covers business texts sent from 10-digit numbers through messaging providers such as Twilio or LC Phone. VoidFix sends through the SIM in your own phone, a different route, so that registration isn't part of the setup. It is not a licence to spam: carriers can still filter or suspend a SIM that sends unwanted messages, many consumer SIM plans limit commercial bulk use, and consent and opt-out laws apply as usual.
How SIM-based SMS sending works
Your Android phone becomes the gateway. The free VoidFix Gateway app keeps a live socket connection to your account, so a text you trigger from the dashboard, GoHighLevel, Zapier or the API reaches the phone instantly and leaves as a normal SMS or MMS from its SIM.
- Install the free VoidFix Gateway app on an Android phone with an active SIM.
- Scan the QR code in your dashboard to link the phone to your account.
- Send from the dashboard, your CRM workflow or the REST API.
- The phone sends the text from its SIM and reports delivered or failed straight away.
- Replies travel back over the same connection into your dashboard or CRM.
The registered A2P route, for comparison
With a messaging API, a text usually passes through several hands before it reaches the phone:
- Your app or CRM calls an SMS API provider (Twilio, Telnyx, Plivo and similar).
- The provider routes it to an aggregator.
- The aggregator hands it to the recipient's carrier.
- The carrier delivers it to the phone.
Carriers check that traffic against the brand and campaign you registered. With VoidFix, the text starts on your SIM and goes straight onto your carrier's network.
What A2P 10DLC registration covers
10DLC means a standard 10-digit US phone number used for business texting through a messaging provider.
Who must register
Twilio's documentation says anyone sending SMS or MMS over a 10DLC number from an application to the US must register. HighLevel says the same for LC Phone: registration is required when a business sends SMS or MMS to US recipients.
What you register
A brand (your business) and one or more campaigns (what you text and why), filed through your provider with The Campaign Registry. Carriers and their partners make the final approval decision, and a rejected campaign has to be fixed and resubmitted.
What it costs
On top of per-message rates. As of October 2026, SignalWire lists $4.50 per brand, $7.50 per campaign vetting and $10 a month per standard campaign. LC Phone lists $22.50 to $64 one-time plus $1.50 to $10.50 a month per campaign.
| Registered A2P 10DLC (API provider) | Your own SIM (VoidFix Gateway) | |
|---|---|---|
| Registration before sending | Brand + campaign through The Campaign Registry | None; connect a phone and send |
| Time to first text | After approval, often 2 to 3 weeks | Under 5 minutes |
| Cost per text | Per segment, plus carrier fees | No per-message fee; you pay your SIM plan and a flat VoidFix plan |
| Sender number | Rented virtual number | Your SIM's mobile number |
| Throughput | Set by your registered campaign | Grows with the number of SIMs; each SIM is bound by its carrier plan |
| Consent, opt-out, quiet hours | Required | Required |
| Carrier filtering and suspension | Can happen | Can happen |
| Short codes, toll-free, voice | Available | Not available |
What still applies when you skip 10DLC
No registration step does not mean no rules. These apply on every route, including your own SIM.
Business texts are business texts
The CTIA Messaging Principles and Best Practices (May 2023) class any message sent by a business, or by someone acting for one, as Non-Consumer messaging. The route doesn't change that, and businesses are expected to get consent first.
Consent, by message type
CTIA's guidance: a reply to someone who texted you first needs no extra permission; reminders and alerts need express consent; promotional texts need express written consent, such as a ticked box on a form. US senders also answer to the TCPA, and EU senders to GDPR.
Opt-out, every time
Tell people how to stop ("Reply STOP to unsubscribe"), accept normal words like stop, end, cancel or unsubscribe, send one confirmation, and never text that number again. Keep a record of opt-ins and opt-outs. Avoid restricted hours in the recipient's time zone.
Carriers can still filter or suspend
CTIA's guidelines let carriers block or filter unwanted traffic. A SIM that blasts identical texts to people who never asked for them can be filtered or cut off. Many consumer SIM plans also limit commercial or bulk use, so read your plan's terms or ask your carrier about a business plan.
Safeguards VoidFix ships to protect your numbers
All of these are included on every paid SMS plan. They lower the risk of a number being flagged; nothing can promise a number will never be blocked.
Number Warmup
Ramps up sending on a new SIM gradually, so your carrier sees normal behaviour instead of a sudden flood.
Spintax
Writes variations of one template, so a campaign isn't 1,000 identical texts. {Hi|Hello} {{name}} gives each person a different greeting. How Spintax works.
Number Pool
Connect several SIMs to one GoHighLevel or Zapier sub-account and spread sending across them. The API can also rotate devices with useRandomDevice.
Opt-out handling
Unsubscribe management in Contacts and Groups, an API call to unsubscribe a contact, and keyword auto replies you can set up to confirm STOP requests. Lead management and auto replies.
Delivery reports and SIM Tracker
See delivered or failed for every text in real time, and the status of each connected SIM, so a problem line shows up fast.
Resend failed messages
Resend failed texts by message ID or by campaign once the problem is fixed, instead of rebuilding the send.
Who SMS without A2P registration is for, and who should register instead
A good fit if you
- Run a GoHighLevel agency and don't want a 2 to 3 week A2P wait for every new client
- Text leads, customers or patients who gave you their number and expect to hear from you
- Send steady volume and want a flat monthly cost instead of a per-segment bill
- Are fine keeping a few Android phones powered, charging and on Wi-Fi
- Want two-way conversations from a real local number
Register 10DLC, or use another route, if you
- Need short codes, toll-free numbers or voice
- Send time-critical one-time passcodes at high, steady throughput
- Plan to text purchased or scraped lists; no route makes that safe
- Can't keep phones online, or your SIM plan forbids business bulk use
- Work in a sector where your compliance team requires a registered sender

Is it legal to send business texts without A2P registration?
A2P 10DLC is a carrier registration framework, run through The Campaign Registry, for business texts sent from 10-digit numbers through messaging providers. Sending from a SIM in your own phone is a different route, so there is no 10DLC registration step. That route is not an exemption from the rules: the CTIA guidelines treat any message sent on behalf of a business as business messaging, carriers can filter or suspend lines that send unwanted traffic, and laws such as the TCPA and GDPR still require consent and opt-out. Check your SIM plan's terms and get legal advice for your market if you are unsure.
How many texts can one SIM send?
VoidFix does not cap SMS on paid plans and charges nothing per message. The practical limit comes from your SIM plan's fair-use terms and from how carriers react to your sending pattern. Warm up new SIMs, send to people who opted in, and spread volume across several SIMs with the Number Pool. For planning, our savings calculator assumes about 10,000 texts per SIM per month; that is an estimate, not a guarantee.
What happens if a carrier flags or restricts one of my SIMs?
Carriers can restrict a number that sends spam-like traffic. In VoidFix you see each message as delivered or failed in real time, the SIM Tracker shows each device's status, and you can resend failed messages by message ID or campaign. With the Number Pool you can keep sending from your other SIMs while you sort out the flagged line with your carrier. VoidFix cannot reverse a carrier's decision, so prevention matters most.
What happens if my phone goes offline?
The phone must be online with the VoidFix service running to send and receive. While it is offline, messages wait as pending or queued in the dashboard, and any that fail can be resent by ID or campaign. Keep sending phones powered, charging and on Wi-Fi.
Can I use VoidFix alongside a registered A2P provider?
Yes. Some teams keep a registered provider for short codes, toll-free numbers or one-time passcodes, and send follow-ups, reminders and campaigns through VoidFix. The two do not conflict.
Does this work outside the US?
Yes. It works wherever your SIM card can send SMS. A2P 10DLC is a US system, but other countries have their own sender rules and privacy laws, so use a local SIM in the country you are texting and follow local consent rules.
